My name is Giorgio Jimenez, and I have roots in a few places. I was originally born in Cancun, Mexico, and later moved to Merida, which is about three hours away. In the 6th grade, I moved to Lake Tahoe, where I completed both middle and high school.
To be candid, I’m not entirely sure where I’m headed— figuratively. I’ll be moving to Miami this year to start working, but I’m uncertain if that’s where I’ll settle. I find myself drawn to pursuing a more personal passion or entrepreneurial journey, so we’ll see what opportunities arise. As for how I’ll get there—that’s the million-dollar question. Recently, I’ve adopted a new mindset: if I don't know where I'm going I will at least improve where I am, and I love this approach.
I’m a natural talker. Both of my parents are extremely social, and I’ve definitely inherited their love for connecting with people. That said, I differ from them in how I tackle challenges. I need immediate results when it comes to things within my control, whereas my parents tend to take a more laid-back, “go with the flow” approach.
When it comes to expectations, I’d say it’s a mix of internal and external influences. I have personal standards for how I want to act and interact with others, which shape the kind of person I aim to be. At the same time, some of the things I aspire to—like a certain car, house, or lifestyle—are undoubtedly shaped by societal influences. It’s all a work in progress.
My best friend, Hank, has been a big influence in my life. He’s a few years older than me and always reminds me to stay true to myself while challenging that version of me. He’s constantly growing and evolving, and he approaches life from multiple angles, which I really admire.
Interestingly, I’ve had this conversation recently, and I find that I feel a strong connection to dolphins. They symbolize freedom and seem so unbothered by the world around them, which resonates deeply with me.
Lastly, there’s one tree that stands out to me—a thorny tree, much like one near HOH. When I was younger, I loved climbing trees, but this one was impossible to climb because of the thorns. That made me admire it even more. To this day, it reminds me of home.

Hi Giorgio, I think that its cool that you chose a dolphin. I like how you connected it to a feeling of freedom.
ReplyDeleteHi Giorgio! I too am an Aquarius and reading this it was freaky to see how much I related to it. I love your mindset and your confidence and ambition leaks through your writing. My favorite animal as a child was a dolphin and for the same reasons. They are truly free and beautiful beings even though they live in a massive and at times threatening environment. Exciting to learn more! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteFunny thing about that thorny tree -- I used to give tours of the Trees of Marshall as part of WRIT 340. That was one of my favorites -- it's a type of ceiba tree, but one of the common names is the Brazilian Floss Silk Tree, which cracks me up for some reason. It flowers in fall, fruits in winter (the fruit looks like giant avocados) then in the spring the fruit skin splits in four equal segments and falls away to reveal the soft, cottony "silk" of the tree's common name. And then there are the thorns! Wild...
